when Jerry beat Mathis, Foster, Lyle, and Earnie Shavers (all ranked from no.1 to no.6 World contenders).they were a combined 117-3 with 105 knockouts! knockdowns 3-0 Quarry. howa about that for a non champion contender??

J.I., about Aaron being ~troubled~ NOT SO SURE he was so much. Only early on. Remember one interview in which he stated 1) he did not have any "best friend" and 2) About his short stint going to Prison. Don't remember now what that was about but do remember him stating it was *scary experience. [I thought same thing six months I spent incarcerated. My case it was "polit"/Connecticut. The actual Gov. of the State put-me in JAIL one time.... "swear"]

It is hard to believe that Jerry Quarry passed away nearly 18 years ago! Time sure does fly! I recall learning about Jerry's passing from the ring announcer at the begginning of a Roy Jones Jr fight ! Very hard to comprehend that was nearly TWO decades ago!

I remember picking Pryor to win against Alexis A. in the first fight. My logic was that he was naturally bigger and heavier----and in a lighter weight class, being naturally heavier is a huge advantage. He was a warrior for sure.

Thoughts and Prayers to another HUGE loss in the boxing community- Aaron " the Hawk" Pryor! Great fighter with two memorable victories against another great fighter who has left us ,Alexis Arguello! I remember watching those two great battles on hbo when I was about 10,11 yrs old! Cheered for Pryor although I was too young to know why !! RIP champ I hope he finds rest that he could not seem to find in this life- I was a huge fan!!!! Until
Next post............ John I agree with your "golden five " mega star names Ang I hope your well havent heard from you in a while

same Top-5 mega stars sitting (no order to list) *Golovkin, Alvarez, Ward, Kovalev AND Manny Pacquiao. Same listing with the too FURY WILDER JOSHUA PARKER POVETKIN WLAD.K. HAYE = the only SEVEN names that matter in the HVY.-Wt. DIVISION.
Adding to my WAR inside the SPORT not only the deal "dealing with the FRAUD" of the IBO.. now too this Tri-championships some of the FIRST &MAJOR FOUR are running. I mean: Wba (for ONE) calling Luis Ortiz AND Lucas Browne world champs at HVY. Tyson Fury the only real champ in the WBA (until he soon will be stripped). Wba "could" at that time pronounce either/or guy title holder but... it ISN'T a good game!
FEW weeks ago lost one FRIEND when MICHAEL TAYLOR passed away! He was 64 or 65. I first met him at the 1977 USAREUR championships and we boith were in same weight bracket (139lbs.) /I wound up losing in the 1/4 decision Vs Morris Eason ans the MT defeated Eason in the 1/2.
*Golovkin Administrative FAULT. #My match in the USAREUR: I could of put this out there before not sure. This line in my record (#8) is THE HARDEST fight I ever had certainly. It was THREE FIGHTS in one. I had real bad weight problems. If I knew then what I would learn in the ensuing years, I would of gone into the match having my strength restored. Maybe then would of won. Could of forfeited vs MT.
Eason, by the way has a short Youtube out, "My Story". It's a decent film. And a testimonial.
I didn't know at the time I fought him that he owned a win vs Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini nor was Mancini YET the established LEGEND that he would go on to become [inducted into the Boxing HOF this past one].
I could come back to say more about our actual match. And perspective.
Michael was one of the top boxers in the U.S. ARMY that year as he proved by winning USAREUR. Takes me a couple of years to locate him on FB. "Shock" is the word when I read that he has passed away! MT was from South Carolina but moved to California in the recent year or two. He was a career soldier and when I called him on the phone told me how he had at one point gotten "close" in the world amateur championships. BUT, he wouldn't really give me too much on his boxing. I though, we were TRULY FRIENDSHIP. Such a "good guy", and always respectful!
^ ^ Remember WELL the first instance I ever laid eyes on him> I had walked into our "Team space" area at USAREUR and he is seated comfortably with Robbie (William Robinson, US Postal Service, Miami, FL.) our COACH. Right away I know we are in same tournament. He had more experience than myself (I was 7-0-0).. always respectful not type to try and "psych" anyone. Witness his fight Vs Morris. Morris...was on speed when he fought me. Our fight was very hard for him too. Taylor simply "destroyed" Morris Eason that night. Really classy boxing, with some power.
I'm not 100% certain he is DEAD! IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE! But, that IS what his wife SAY over FB. IF IT'S TRUE.... I sincerely hope he has gone to HEAVEN.
