THE JERRY QUARRY FOUNDATION How You Can Help THANKS FOR VISITING OUR WEB SIGHT! In 1990 Jerry and I decided that something had to be done to make boxing a safer sport than it was at that time. We finally started "The Jerry Quarry Foundation for Dementia Pugilistica". In 1994 Jerry had been showing signs of Dementia, so we went public with his affliction. We wanted to bring attention to a long time problem, for the most part one of the dark sides to boxing. The AP Wire Service picked the story up and sent it all over the world. The sports fan was shocked to find out about Jerry. They were more shocked to learn that not one organization had benefits to help Jerry. Initially, our focus was just on the boxer. The boxer was in a sport that the intent was to direct punches to the head. We got involved with The Muhammad Ali Reform act and The Professional Boxers Safety Act. By Sen. John McCain of Arizona. When we filed our paper work to become a California Domestic Non Profit Corporation, we were turned down. We were told that we had to take on all contact sports and the general public. All the paperwork was sent back. We changed the wording to include all the above. We received expectance from the State Of California. It was hard to believe on Jerry's birthday May 15, 1995 we were granted our Corporate and Non-Profit status. We formed a board of directors. Several people, including some of the biggest names in Hollywood and Sports Competition wanted to be a director. However, not one as it turned out has stuck it out. Now I am asking for your help! I have taken TJQF just about as far as I could bring it. Thanks to my belated brother Jerry, just about every institution knows who we are and what we want to accomplish for all contact sports and the general public. In regards to blunt force trauma. We need a Chief Executive Officer. One who is experienced in grant writing, fund raising, Running the day to day operations of a non- profit business. Like contacting, or hiring a telemarketing firm, to contact major corporations, U.S. Government agencies and other charitable organizations. Research has already started. To continue on a full scale level, we need your help. Donations are tax deductible both Federal and State. We need your time and/or your money. The benefit package is substantial.
